The Model Context Protocol project publishes ten official SDKs, ranked in three tiers by feature completeness, protocol support and maintenance commitment, for building MCP servers and clients, as documented by the vendor. The MCP SDK page lists ten official SDKs under the modelcontextprotocol GitHub organisation: TypeScript, Python, C#, Go, Rust, Ruby, Java, Swift, PHP and Kotlin (modelcontextprotocol.io).
The SDK page says SDKs "adopt new protocol revisions on their own schedules", so each SDK's own documentation states which revisions it supports (modelcontextprotocol.io). All official MCP SDKs support creating servers with tools, resources and prompts, building clients, local and remote transports, and type-safe protocol compliance (modelcontextprotocol.io). The SDK page resolved to the 2026-07-28 documentation version (/docs/2026-07-28/sdk) on 5 Nov 2026 (modelcontextprotocol.io, observed 5 November 2026).
TypeScript, Python, C#, Go, Rust and Ruby are Tier 1 SDKs; Java is Tier 2; Swift, PHP and Kotlin are Tier 3 (modelcontextprotocol.io). The MCP project classifies SDKs into tiers "based on feature completeness, protocol support, and maintenance commitment" (modelcontextprotocol.io).
