What it does for this layer

Clerk says it supports MCP "through Client ID Metadata Documents (CIMD), Dynamic Client Registration for clients that still require it, OAuth consent screens, and SDK support" (clerk.com). Clerk runs its own MCP server that lets coding agents manage Clerk applications, users and production setup; the user signs in with a Clerk account when the client connects (clerk.com). Clerk Agent Tasks create authenticated sessions on a user's behalf without the standard sign-in flow, for agent workflows (clerk.com).

Clerk bills on monthly retained users rather than monthly active users; a user who signs up and never returns after the first 24 hours is not billed (clerk.com). Clerk pricing lists Hobby free with 50,000 retained users per app, Pro at 25 USD a month (20 USD billed annually) and a 300 USD a month tier (clerk.com). Clerk Pro includes 50,000 retained users per app, then 0.02 USD per additional user a month, and one SSO connection with more at 75 USD a month each (clerk.com).

Clerk ships agent skills installed with npx skills add clerk/skills and a CLI started with npx clerk@latest init (clerk.com).
