MCP maintainers publish the new roadmap
The roadmap names five priority areas: agentic messaging primitives, Streamable HTTP for local servers, agent identity and enterprise security (DPoP, workload identity), improved primitives including progressive tool discovery, and SDK developer experience. What it changes in the data held here
Of 817 reachable endpoints in the directory, 812 answered over Streamable HTTP and 5 over the legacy SSE transport. The 2026-07-28 specification classes SSE as deprecated, so the second figure is the count of servers that will need to move.
The connector log shows which protocol revisions the directory's reachable servers answered with: 189 on 2025-11-25, 40 on 2025-06-18, 16 on 2026-07-28, 11 on 2025-03-26, 9 on 2024-11-05. Servers on 2025-11-25 still use the initialize handshake that 2026-07-28 removes.
