The Claude API MCP connector supports OAuth Bearer tokens for authenticated servers, several servers in one request, and allowlists or denylists of tools ([platform.claude.com](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/agents-and-tools/mcp-connector)). The mcp-client-2026-09-15 beta header records each server's tool list in an mcp\_tool\_listing block and lets the developer pin it so tools do not change mid-conversation ([platform.claude.com](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/agents-and-tools/mcp-connector)). Anthropic's MCP connector lets developers connect to MCP servers from the Messages API "without implementing an MCP client" ([platform.claude.com](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/agents-and-tools/mcp-connector)).
